The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. The Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD. The hundreds of individual figures range in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks, orcas, llamas, and lizards. The largest figures are over 200 metres (660 ft) across. Scholars differ in interpreting the purpose of the designs, but they generally ascribe religious significance to them.

Boston Dynamics finalmente está mostrando avances en su robot humanoide PETMAN. El robot está siendo construido a prueba de trajes militar para proteger a los soldados contra la guerra química. Como se puede ver en el video, PETMAN dinámicamente realiza los saldos similares a Bigdog incluso cuando es empujado, y puede caminar a 5.14kph (1km apenas por debajo de la marcha corriendo de ASIMO!). También no hace prácticamente ningún ruido en comparación con los notorios y fuerte zumbido de Bigdog. Será muy interesante ver cómo este proyecto se desarrolla a medida que potencialmente podría generar un salto de años de desarrollo japonés en robots humanoides.
Barcelona, La empresa PAL Robotics ha anunciado a Efe la intención de comercializar "en breve plazo" el robot con forma humana más avanzado de Europa, denominado REEM B, con el fin de que pueda prestar información a los visitantes en lugares públicos como museos, centros administrativos o complejos de ocio.
Según ha informado el director del proyecto, Davide Faconti, la empresa tiene la intención de comercializar en breve, con unas pocas unidades iniciales y por encargo, el robot REEM B, que es capaz de interactuar con humanos y realizar funciones básicas.
Entre estas funciones se encuentra la posibilidad de hablar en el idioma de su interlocutor y autolocalizarse en un entorno que previamente ha escaneado, reconociendo su posición en ese espacio.
¿Quién no ha soñado con descansar en casa mientras un robot hace los quehaceres o contribuye en otras tareas dentro del hogar? REEM B, el robot humanoide más avanzado de Europa, podría ser la solución en un futuro cercano.
El REEM B, un amigo de lujo, es la versión posterior del REEM A, ambos pertenecientes a la compañía Pal Technology Robotics, cuya sede se encuentra en Barcelona.
La empresa ya tiene en la mira la opción de vender unidades iniciales por encargo, de este compañero que es capaz de interactuar con humanos y llevar a cabo funciones muy útiles.
Sin embargo, su comercialización masiva será una vez que termine la etapa de perfeccionamiento…así que los hijos o nietos de REEM B sí podrían ser considerados como el amigo ideal para cualquier persona de negocios que pasa poco tiempo en casa, o simplemente para los amantes de la tecnología del más alto nivel.
Carga hasta doce kilos de peso, está pensado para ayudar en asuntos domésticos; un amigo de lujo.
REEM B mide 1,47 metros de alto, pesa 60 kilos y tiene un aspecto más o menos humanoide. Y al decir más o menos es porque sus creadores son conscientes de que un rostro muy cercano al de un hombre provoca rechazo en la población.
Cada una de sus manos cuenta con cuatro dedos y diez motores, gracias a los cuales puede manipular y transportar objetos pequeños. Una habilidad complementada con su extraordinaria fuerza, que le permite levantar cargas de hasta el 25% por ciento de su propio peso, inusual en un robot de sus características.
Dispone de micrófono, cámara, acelerómetro y sensor ultrasónico que, entre otras cosas, le sirven para reconocer caras, objetos y voces. De este modo, hasta podrías crear un “vínculo” con tu pequeño camarada.
Añade a la lista que camina, se sienta y sube escaleras, recrea un mapa de su entorno y evita de este modo posibles obstáculos en su marcha. La duración de las baterías ronda las dos horas… ¿Se puede pedir más?
Aún no se sabe fecha exacta de venta, pero existen posibilidades de estar en contacto con otros prototipos. Los robots no son sólo cosa de cine al estilo Star Wars, puede que mañana te topes con uno de estos especiales "seres" como botones en el aeropuerto, guía de museos o incluso uno de sacerdote en una boda.
